Principal's Message
Lafayette Families,
Welcome to a new school year! I extend a warm welcome to all our new and returning families for the 2024-25 school year.
As I enter my eighth year of leadership at Lafayette Elementary School, I am honored to serve as child’s principal. The elementary school years are important times of academic and social development for our students, and I look forward to working with all of you to make this year successful. I have been in education for 29 years and bring a commitment to all students and their families. I am passionate about your child’s learning and well-being and will partner to support your needs. Working together, we can collectively ensure that every student is successful at Lafayette.
In the coming weeks, there will be several opportunities for students and families to connect with the school.

ARRIVAL TIMES:
Our school day begins at 9:00 AM every day. Please be sure to have your child/children here on time. Students who are tardy are at a disadvantage and can arrive feeling unprepared. All students who arrive after 9:30 am must sign in at the office with a parent.
PEDESTRIAN AND VEHICLE SAFETY:
For the safety of our students and their families, it is important that you obey all traffic laws. Lafayette provides a valet drop-off in the morning on Eucalyptus Avenue. It is important to note that traffic is signed to travel north on Eucalyptus Avenue during school hours.
For dismissal, students may be picked up on Eucalyptus Avenue. If using our designated pickup, do not leave your car unattended to pick up your child. TK and Kindergarten students may be picked up on Chestnut Avenue. Traffic is designed to head south on Chestnut Avenue during the dismissal..
SCHOOL INVOLVEMENT:
Because it is so important that teachers and parents work together in making a child’s school year a happy and successful one, it is hoped that you will be able to spend some time during the school year helping in the classroom or at home. Please discuss with your child’s teacher, ways that will work within your schedule. Home/School partnerships are the reason Lafayette continues to stand out. LAFAYETTE PARENT BOOSTERS:
We strongly encourage all of our families to join our Lafayette Parent Boosters. School-wide events and fundraisers are important to the success of Lafayette and we hope you will help our Lafayette Parent Boosters throughout the year. Please consider supporting through donations, time, or your attendance. This helps to support our number one priority: your children.
All the best this coming year,
David Komatz
